Kindness is

Kindness is…

Kindness is not taking your mood out on the person at the checkout,

But to speak to them using their name

And offering a smile.

Kindness is holding space for

Grief, sadness, anger, despair

Without judging

Without trying to fix it

And without taking it on as your own.

Kindness is

Saying yes when it’s yes

And no when it’s no.

Kindness is taking a big breath

And not saying “I told you so”

Even as it is trying to burst out at the seams.

Kindness is not using harsh words

When soft ones will do.

Kindness is giving only

What you would have

For yourself.

Kindness is offering to do something for someone

That is easy for you

And hard for them,

And then empowering them to do for themselves

Next time.

Kindness is giving from your overflow,

But not from your essence,

Because that would be unkind to yourself.

Kindness is saying “thank you”

And mean it

Even if you paid for the service.

Kindness is allowing others to be

Who they want to be

Rather than what you would choose for them.

Kindness is picking up litter

So that a turtle, dolphin, bird or seahorse

Will not end up chocking on it.

Kindness is treating your body

With reverence, love and respect

And gratitude for all it does for you.

Kindness is understanding

That all living creatures

Are kin.

Kindness is looking into another being’s eyes

And truly seeing

That they are a spark of Divine Love.

Kindness is knowing that every single being

Has inherent worth.

Including yourself.

Kindness is to meet the world with a heart full of

Love, joy, generosity and gratitude,

Even when circumstances would seem to prove the opposite.

Kindness is love in action.

Kindness is a bridge to your Soul.
