A message to my future self

Hello future me.

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the wisdom and guidance you have offered me over the years, for holding true North for me this whole life.

As I think about you, I realize that there are a lot of things I don’t know about you. How long your hair is. Where you live, and with whom.

How you managed to juggle your yearning for spending time in our new home, Australia, with spending time in our old home, Europe. I look forward to finding out!

How many pets you have, and what kind. I would be surprised if you haven’t been chosen by at least one dog.

I wonder what your current favourite colour is.

But there are actually lots of things I do know about you.

You still don’t pluck your eyebrows.

If you have a vehicle, if vehicles are even a thing, it’s going to be fuel efficient rather than flash.

You love fiercely.

You laugh out loud.

Everything you do and are always comes back to loving and appreciating and feeling reverence for our Earth and all her beings.

You stand your ground and speak your truth, even if yours is the only voice saying it.

You think and act outside the box.

You are creative, be it singing, playing guitar (I hope you are more proficient at it than I am – I will endeavour to practice more!), dancing, painting, cooking, writing or whatever other way of expression you have discovered in the meanwhile. I know you are an artist, because I claimed that title a few weeks ago. I know that you like what you create and that it gives you enormous amounts of pleasure.

You are generous.

You like your time by yourself.

You trust your heart.

You feel deeply connected to our Earth and our Galactic brothers and sisters.

You have thriving at the centre of every intention, of every thought you think and of every action you do.

You rejoice and celebrate when you witness someone claiming the next level of their magnificence.

I know that Life has tried and tested and stretched you to the limit any number of times, and that you sometimes got yourself though thanks to sheer stubbornness and tenacity and the love and support of those dear to you. And I know that you always eventually found the gift in these times and were grateful for them.

You love to feel sunshine on your face, your body moving freely and strongly and effortlessly, the taste of mangoes and blueberries and cherries, listening to the waves, your bare feet on the ground.

You live near the ocean, because we don’t do well if we are separated from it for too long.

You love travelling to places and experiencing all the different Lands of our Earth, new foods, new sights and sounds, while knowing that what connects us humans is our shared humanity.

You treat your body, your lifetime companion, your time-and-space navigation suit, with love and gratitude, and do your best to give her what she needs to feel vibrantly alive and joyful.

You still give bear hugs.

I know that you are proud of me, the way I am proud of our younger self. And that you are grateful for all the seeds I have sown, all the choices I have made, that you are now reaping the rich harvest of.

You are proud that you did a whole lot of important things, many of which were disguised as Small Moments. And you also live in the awareness that what really, truly matters in the end is who you are rather than what you did. I know that you can look back on a deep and rich and meaningful and consciously lived life, and that when you decide to leave this Earthplane, you will feel deeply satisfied with everything you have lived.

Because I am going to make sure it is so.
